Three Years Ago Today!!!

Well I can't believe it's been three years since they placed Olivia in our arms. Today is our three year "Gotcha Day" anniversary. It seems like yesterday that all 13 families were crammed into that very small, VERY hot room in Guangzhou, China. I remember we could hear the babies crying in the room next door. That sweet little 9 month old baby is now a feisty three year old and one of the greatest blessings in our lives. It's true what they say "time flies when you're having fun"!

We Have Puppies!!

Our sweet Macy(our miniature dachshund) had her puppies today. She only had two-a boy and a girl. They are a beautiful chocolate color. I named the boy Chip and the girl Coco. Needless to say we had an eventful Memorial Day! I will post pictures soon.

More Referrals Coming!

We received an email from PLAN saying that they are expecting more referrals in the next week or so. They said that there will be "several" in this batch. I wonder what "several" could mean. I know we won't be in this next batch but possibly the next! It just doesn't seem real.

#16

Well our agency finally received their first referrals since the new rules took affect March 1. Unfortunately they only received three. I guess a little progress in better than no progress. Now we move up to #16 on the waiting list. There is still no way of knowing when the next batch will come in or how many will be in it. Aah, the adventures of international adoption!!

And It Begins...

Well I knew it was a matter of time before Vietnam referrals started slowing down. When we started our paperwork with PLAN they were giving immediate referrals for paper ready families. Well the rules changed after March first and referrals were expected to take 1-3 months. Then it changed to 2-4 months. That's where it was when we turned in our paperwork. Now the PLAN website says the wait for referral will be 6-9 months. This should only apply to new applicants. We should still fall into the 2-4 month range. It's still MUCH shorter than the wait for China but I wonder for how long.

Our All Star

We found out today that Peyton made the All Star baseball team. I think I'm more excited than he is. He doesn't get what an honor it is. Out of 8 teams only 24 boys in his age group were nominated. They chose 13 to be on the All Star team. We will be VERY busy this summer! It will help pass the time waiting on our referral.

# 19

Well I found out today that we are family #19 on our agency's waiting families list. They are expecting referrals in a couple of weeks but we won't be in this batch. I didn't expect to be. It's hard to believe that in a few months we will have a picture of Ava. I still think we will travel before the end of the year but you never know. It's all in God's timing.

No Twins

Well, Davis and I won't be getting twins after all. Although we really wanted twins it would just be too much of a financial burden right now. So, I emailed Judy at PLAN and let her know that even if twins were available for us we only want to adopt one baby this time.

It's unlikely that twins would have been available anyway. I also think it was a little selfish on our part. Twins should go to a childless couple or at least a couple with fewer children than we have. Maybe we can return to Vietnam one day and adopt again or maybe God intends for our quiver to be full with four kids. I don't think I'll ever stop wanting another child. Who knows what God has in store for us.

We're DTV!!

Well, I just spoke to Judy T at PLAN and we were DTV (dossier to Vietnam) on Thursday, April 26! I'm so excited to be finished with the paperwork. Now we just wait. I hope we get a referal some time this summer but you never know.
