Peyton's Test Results

Well we finally received Peyton's report from the Child Psychologist today. Basically I paid him $450 to tell me that I am a horrible mother and that I have screwed him up the past three years by homeschooling him. His summary:

"Peyton demonstrated an unusual pattern of scores; he demonstrated intellectual functioning that was solidly within the Average range, and demonstrated specific learning disabilities in all academic areas. This pattern is unusual because typically a child who is learning disabled will have specific learning problems in such areas as reading or math. given that he is homeschooled, his scores on the current testing are complicated in terms of interpretation. There is no way for the examiner to determine that he has received adequate academic instruction by a certified teacher. In general, he would benefit from special education assistance by someone who was certified in special education in order to enhance the possibility that he will develop progressively."

Potty Training????

Davis & I were sitting at the kitchen table working on puzzles when we noticed it was very quiet. We went back to our puzzles and we started hearing Ava playing in our bathroom. We have learned to keep the doors to all of the bathrooms closed because Ava likes to put anything she can find in the toilet. Davis went to check on her and he started yelling for me. I guess Ava decided it was time to start using the potty!!!

Spring Has Sprung!

Well spring has sprung at the Wilson house. When we were playing in the backyard yesterday we discovered a family of woodpeckers in a tree. I must have been dinner time because the babies were VERY hungry.

Nothin' New

I haven't had much to blog about lately. The kids are all doing great. Peyton is playing baseball and taking gymnastics. We still haven't heard about his test results. Olivia is as busy as ever. She is also taking gymnastics and her t-ball practices have started. Ethan has finished physical therapy and is only taking speech therapy now. His speech has improved greatly this year. Ava is walking EVERYWHERE!! She is also climbing on EVERYTHING!! Davis & I celebrated our 12th anniversary this past Sunday. I can't believe it has been 12 years.

Peyton The Pitcher

Peyton pitched his first baseball game last night!! He hasn't pitched before so I didn't have the camera. He only pitched the last inning of the game. His first pitch was a strike!! He struck out the first batter and threw a runner out on first base. We were so proud of him. Hopefully I can get pictures of him pitching. He has another game to night. I don't know if he will pitch again but I will have my camera just in case.

Please keep Peyton in your prayers today. We are having him tested for learning disabilities. He has struggled with learning to read. We have tried everything we can think of to help him. His appointment is at 2:30 this afternoon. We are hoping this testing will help us help Peyton. I know he is very smart. It has to be so frustrating not being able to read like other kids his age. It has hurt Davis and me to watch him struggle. We have been homeschooling for the past three years but we are planning to put Peyton and Olivia in public school in the fall. I would hate for Peyton to get picked on for not being able to keep up. Please pray for him during his test and pray that God with give us guidance in what to do to help Peyton.

Ava's Quilt Arrived From Vietnam!!

When we were in Hanoi we ordered Ava a handmade quilt from the quilt shop. It finally arrived today! It is gorgeous. We ordered a twin quilt, standard sham, and two throw pillows. Vietnam Quilts is a non-profit organization which aims to develop rural communities. The program provides training to women in rural Vietnam, which leads to employment and a regular income. Happy Easter!!

We had a great Easter this year. Unfortunately our pictures from Easter morning aren't very good. It was very cold and windy. Thankfully it warmed up after church. We went to Davis' cousin's house for lunch and an egg hunt. We ate too much! The kids had a great time hunting eggs. Ava even got in on the hunt. She had a wonderful first Easter. We all did. Davis and his brother jumped on the trampoline with all of the kids. They even played capture the flag with the older kids. My kids are so blessed to have a Daddy that would rather play with them than sit in front of a TV all day. We are all truly blessed.
