Singin' The Blues

I've done pretty good the past few days with the wait for travel but that ends today. At the time we were logged in the wait for referral was 2-4 months. Most people waited less than 4 months. Some families only waited 2 months. We waited 4 months. Our agency's website says the wait between referral and travel is 3-4 months. Most people have only been waiting 4-6 weeks. Some families even traveled in 3 weeks. So far we have waited 5 1/2 weeks. I'm sure we will end up having to wait the full 4 months until travel. Did I mention that we also have the oldest baby. At this rate she will be driving when we get her!! I'm going to go sing the blues some more.

Ava is Doing Great!

I just received an email from Beth, Cherie's daughter. She was the one who took the pictures of Ava. Here is what she had to say:


Hi Leigh,

We spent a lot of time in Ha's room yesterday as the families we were visiting with went into that room and never left there. They immediately attached themselves to a baby and started taking care of him/her. Ha was being held by her nanny the entire time but was having fun watching us. I was able to get her to smile in a few photos as she is ticklish. She is moving from lying on her back to a sitting position with ease. She is still a bit unsteady at sitting. Probably due to her always being held.;-) She bears weight on her legs. Basically she is doing wonderfully. She is so bright, alert and curious. I saw her with two nannies and she has both wrapped around her little fingers. Glad to hear that you enjoyed the photos as I had fun taking them and playing with the children.

Isn't that great! This info on how well Ava is doing is priceless. Even though we still don't have travel dates yet today has been a great day!

Even More

After I posted the pictures I went back to look at all of the babies again and I found three more of Ava!! Here they are.

EIGHT NEW PICTURES!!!!

We received eight new pictures of Ava this morning!! Cherie, the family coordinator in Hanoi, visited the orphanage yesterday. I've been praying for new pictures but I never imagined I would get eight!! It looks like we may have our first thumb sucker. She is absolutely gorgeous!!

Magic 6

Well six families received travel dates yesterday. Unfortunately we were not among the "Magic 6". I am very happy for these families. At least the cases from Ava's orphanage are FINALLY clearing. Hopefully we will hear something this week or next. The Magic 6 group will be in Vietnam on 10/20. Maybe we'll get to go the weekend after. Who knows.

Going Bald and Fertilizer

Well it has now been FOUR WEEKS since Ava's referral and still NO TRAVEL DATES!! I don't mean to yell but AHH!!!! To make matters worse by the time we actually get to Vietnam I'm going to be completely bald from pulling my hair out waiting for TRAVEL DATES!!

OK, I'll stop yelling now. On a lighter note. Our dogs that had the puppies back in May are at it again. I'm not sure if you are aware but when dogs finish their "business" the male gets stuck for about 10 minutes. Well Peyton saw the dogs "stuck" this week. After much thought he said,"I know what they were doing. Milo was putting the eggs into Macy." I said no Macy already has the eggs. So then he says,"Oh, so Milo was fertilizing the eggs." I said yes. He then asked, "What kind of fertilizer does he use?". With as straight of a face as I could muster I said, "Puppy fertilizer".

Whining!!

It's been three weeks since we received Ava's referral. We still haven't heard about our travel dates. As far as I know no one has heard about travel dates. I've been doing good with the wait until now. I'm ready to know when we are going to Vietnam!! WAH! WAH! This was the hardest part with Olivia"s and with Ethan's adoptions. The wait for referral was tough but the wait for travel dates was excruciating! Please pray that we hear SOMETHING soon!!
